The Natural Resource Conservation and Management (NRCM) program at Western Carolina University seeks an Instructor to teach a combination of introductory courses in support of the University Liberal Studies program, and introductory to advanced courses in support of the NRCM major.

This is a nine-month fixed-term position with an expected begin work date of August 2021. Review of applications will begin on or about March 15, 2021 and will continue until a candidate has been selected.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and provide experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students. We desire candidates who can increase the instructional capacity of the NRCM program, and who can offer courses across the NRCM curriculum. The teaching load also includes participation in WCU's general education curriculum.

The NRCM program is housed in the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resources, which is home to 4 degree programs. The primary responsibility is to teach 4 courses per semester (12 credit hours) including introductory courses such as Introduction to Natural Resource Conservation and Management, Methods in Natural Resource Management, and advanced courses such as Natural Resource Measurements and Forest Management. In addition to teaching, Instructors are responsible for service contributions to the department and university as assigned each academic year by the Geosciences and Natural Resources Department Head in consultation with the Instructor.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in forestry, natural resources, or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in forestry, natural resources, or related discipline.
