Title
Assistant Professor - wildlife and land conservation
Organization
Yale University
Description

The Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies seeks an innovative scholar whose research informs wildlife and landscape-scale conservation for a tenure-track faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants should have a record of research addressing the growing need for wildlife science to inform working lands conservation solutions in support of long-term human-wildlife coexistence across broad landscapes. Research should be fundamentally grounded in approaches that explore the nexus of ecological and social sciences to understand processes shaping animal movement across large landscapes or regions. Areas of research focus could include influences of environmental change on wildlife behavior, movement and population dynamics; spatial socio-ecological processes for landscape-scale wildlife conservation; wildlife behavior and habitat selection in human dominated landscapes; human-wildlife conflict resolution and coexistence; cross-cultural differences in human-wildlife relations. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the School’s strategic goals in ecosystems and land management and conservation through scholarship, research excellence, teaching, advising, and engagement with industry, government, and/or NGO communities.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a directly related field, and will be expected to teach and mentor students at the PhD, masters and undergraduate levels, as well as to develop an internationally recognized research program that involves graduate students.

Prior to applying, candidates are encouraged to explore the School’s website (http://environment.yale.edu) and consider how their expertise can complement existing strengths within the School. Yale University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and strongly encourages applications from and nominations of women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities.
