The Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology Program at North Carolina State University is seeking up to 3 experienced field technicians to assist Crew Leaders and a graduate student with research evaluating survival and reproduction of eastern wild turkey across North Carolina’s Mountain, Piedmont and Coastal Regions. Primary responsibilities will include radio-telemetry, nest monitoring, and vegetation sampling. Candidates with experience, especially with radio telemetry, will be given preference. The position will begin in April and last through July.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants that have a B.S. in wildlife ecology or related field. Competitive candidates will be expected to have: (1) field experience, especially with upland gamebirds; (2) strong interpersonal skills as daily interaction with landowners, hunters, state agency personnel, and other stakeholders will occur; (3) willingness to work early mornings and late nights and weekends when necessary; (4) experience operating 4wd vehicles and ATV's.
Salary
$1600/ month plus housing ($10.00/hr)
