Wildlands Engineering, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to join the growing team in our Charlotte, NC office. We are looking for an individual to help with GIS tasks related to producing maps and technical reports at all stages of project development for a variety of stream, wetland, and other restoration sites. This full-time position supports other GIS team members and works collaboratively across other teams within the company. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of one (1) year of experience using ESRI ArcGIS products, good organizational skills, and a passion for improving ecosystems and water quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce well-designed maps upon request for various teams with thoughtful composition and attention to detail
• Work in collaboration with team members to advance projects through all phases of development, interpreting and adapting to changing mapping needs as a project develops
• Adhere to company standards for data management
• Assist with maintenance of GIS data
• Effective communication and coordination with team members and other staff
• Meeting deadlines with a willingness to react positively to changes in priorities
Physical Demands
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
• Long hours in front of a computer and computer screen
• Visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data
• Understands ecological processes important to riparian and wetland restoration in the southeastern United States
• Proficiency using ESRI ArcMap, ArcPro, and ArcGIS Online software
• Experience editing GIS data with a high degree of accuracy
• Understands and follows cartographic standards
• Must have valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
• 1 to 2 years of experience using GIS in a professional setting
• Experience using Lidar data
• Experience with watershed delineation
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word
