Forest Health Internship


The Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry is seeking a paid intern to assist the
Forest Health Program in its efforts to monitor specific pests and to implement other forest health
program projects across the state. This internship will take place from June 7th


– August 6th 2021


and is Associated with the Tennessee Leaders of Tomorrow Program.


Location:
This internship is in Nashville. Interns should be located within a reasonable drive. Work may be
statewide and require limited overnight travel.


Major Duties:
• Assist with the gypsy moth program, including pheromone trap placement, quality
monitoring, and database management.
• Assist with other forest health related duties as they arise.
Education:
• Intern should be a recent graduate or actively pursuing a degree in Forestry or a closely
related field (examples: Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Management,
Conservation Science).


Essential Knowledge and Required Skills:
• Interest in forest health
• Strong work ethic
• Listening skills
• Ability to follow directions
• Map reading and navigation
• Basic data skills

Working Conditions:
• Work will occur both in the field and in an office setting.
• Field work will usually occur in areas of moderate difficulty however may occur in more
remote locations requiring high physical endurance.
• Some overnight travel may occur. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
• This internship is designed to fit within the current CDC and State of Tennessee Covid-19
guidelines.
