Meet Cashie Naylor

Cashie Naylor

Program and Location:

University College Cork; Cork, Ireland

Why did you choose to study abroad?

I chose to study abroad because I wanted to challenge myself and seek discomfort. I wanted to learn about a new culture and experience things that I would never get to in a traditional classroom.

What did you learn about yourself?

I learned that I am capable of more than I expected. I learned that I can navigate a new culture and still find a community within a foreign place. I learned that I am growing the most when I am stepping outside of my comfort zone and saying yes to new adventures.

What was one of your favorite parts of your program?

I loved that we had a International Student Society that organized trips and socials that let us meet other international students and explore Ireland.

What advice do you have to future study abroad students?

Experience anything and everything while you are abroad. Meet as many people from as many nations as possible and challenge yourself to do things you normally wouldn’t whether that be making friends with people different from yourself or planning a weekend trip to a new country.

How did your study abroad experience prepare you for your future career?

This experience has allowed me to appreciate and understand new cultures. Since I am planning on going into a career in educational tourism, understanding new cultures and learning how to plan out travel logistics will definitely help me with experiences to talk about when I begin interviewing with companies.

Would you do it again?

Absolutely.
