Linde Expands Student Opportunities With Scholarship Fund
Through a longstanding partnership with NC State, Linde is investing in scholarships to cultivate the next generation of sustainability and natural resources leaders.
As Linde works to fulfill its mission to sustain, decarbonize and protect the planet, the leading global industrial gases and engineering company collaborates with innovators like the NC State College of Natural Resources to nurture and strengthen the flow of highly trained individuals dedicated to the same ideals.
To help ensure financial barriers don’t keep interested students out of the industry, the company created the Linde Natural Resources Scholarship Fund.
“We are committed to unlocking opportunities for talented people who have the potential to meaningfully affect their communities and beyond but may lack the resources to start or continue their education,” said Jennifer Torres-Abousaada, senior global giving program manager for Linde.
This gift provides scholarships for nine undergraduate students in the College of Natural Resources from North Carolina’s Tier 1 or Tier 2 counties or who are first-generation college students. The scholarships support students pursuing undergraduate degrees focused on the environment and sustainability.
“Linde’s generosity is an investment not only in our students, but also in the future of environmental stewardship and sustainability,” said Jennifer Piercy, assistant dean of philanthropy for the College of Natural Resources. “By removing financial barriers and expanding access to education, Linde is helping us empower the next generation of leaders who will protect our natural resources and drive meaningful change in communities across North Carolina and beyond.”
Steadfast Student Support
Torres-Abousaada said Linde has been an NC State partner for 13 years, thanks to College of Engineering alumnus and former CEO Steve Angel ’77. During those years, Linde has supported students with scholarships, graduate research symposiums and engineering programming for women and minorities.
In addition to its gift to the College of Natural Resources, Linde also supports the College of Engineering and the Poole College of Management by providing funding for undergraduate scholarships, graduate student research symposia and other high-impact student experiences.
“Linde’s long-standing partnership with NC State demonstrates the impact of strategic corporate collaboration,” said Samara Hannah, executive director for corporate and foundation relations at NC State. “Their support across multiple colleges expands opportunities for students and advances research that addresses real-world challenges.”

By investing in programs and partnerships that align with its mission, Torres-Abousaada said, Linde is developing future leaders and driving sustainable practices around the world.
“We aim to empower the next generation of leaders in fields related to natural resources, sustainability and environmental innovation,” she said. “Supporting academic research and sustainability development is a powerful way for corporations to drive innovation, build a skilled talent pipeline and demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility. These relationships allow businesses to access cutting-edge research, develop solutions to global challenges and engage with top-tier students equipped to tackle real-world problems.”
Torres-Abousaada encouraged NC State students to explore Linde’s internship and employment opportunities.
“Linde recognizes the value and expertise that students and graduates from this program bring to the table, particularly in areas like sustainability and resource management,” she said. “We’re always looking for talented individuals who can help Linde make our world more productive.”
