Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management – Program Management
Why did you choose PRTM?
I like to think that PRTM found me! I originally chose PRTM because I was unsure of what I wanted to pursue as a career, but after becoming immersed in the program I was opened up to so many opportunities that I wouldn’t have found elsewhere. The faculty and staff created a culture of excellence that motivated me to go beyond my bounds and has allowed me to grow during my time here, something I am truly grateful for.
What internships or volunteer experiences have you had?

  • Internship with Shelton Leadership Center
  • Program Assistant for Sports Programs, University Recreation
  • Study Abroad in France and Italy studying Sport, Tourism & Cross-Culture Management
  • Service Learning at Jaycee Community Park
  • Volunteer for Raleigh Outlaws Blind Bowling League
  • Volunteer for North Carolina Senior Games

What advice would you give to future students?
Yes, grades are important, but focus more on learning and absorbing information rather than just getting by for the test!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In ten years, I hope use what I have learned from PRTM to give back to those who have not been afforded the same opportunity. Ultimately, I want to use recreation as a tool for youth and community development in low-income areas.
What are your fondest memories about being a student at NC State?
Studying abroad in France and Italy was one of the most enlightening experiences I’ve ever had. Not only did I hike the French Alps and kayak in the Mediterranean Sea, but I also had the opportunity to see PRTM curriculum being used by professionals on the other side of the world!
