Whitney Knollenberg

PRTM Faculty Dr. Whitney Knollenberg has been awarded the Boeing Travel Research Grant in Recognition of “Understanding Best Practices to Improve Advocacy Efforts for the Tourism Industry”.  The grant is awarded every two years to a junior researcher for the creative development of a research project, technique, or methodology. The grant was awarded at the 50th Conference of TTRA International in Melbourne, Australia. The conference brings together travel and tourism researchers, users and vendors of research to discuss and share the latest studies and approaches.

Alumni and 2018 PRTM Outstanding Alumnus Award Recipient Marlise Taylor has been awarded the Shifflet Award for Research Excellence. Marlise is the Director of Tourism Research at Visit NC, a unit of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. The Shifflet Award for Research Excellence recognizes a practitioner for their research that resulted or contributed to key decisions or actions for their organization and/or its constituents. This was also awarded at the 50th Conference of TTRA International in Melbourne, Australia.

 

 

Rachel Szczytko

Rachel Szczytko

Alumni Rachel Szczytko has just started a new position as Environmental Education Program Associate with the The Pisces Foundation. Rachel received her Master of Science in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management in 2017 and served as an environmental education graduate research assistant. The Pisces Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations to support their mission which is to advance strategic solutions to natural resource challenges and prepare the next generation by supporting environmental learning.

 

 

 

Ladan Ghahramani

Ladan Ghahramani

PRTM PhD candidate Laden Ghahramani has been promoted to Assistant Director of Marketing Insights and Visitor Services for Travel Oregon. Laden has been a Research Manager with Travel Oregon since 2017. The Travel Oregon staff develops and implements a biennial strategic marketing plan which includes advertising and marketing, publication development, cooperative promotions, consumer fulfillment, public relations, international marketing, tourism product development, State Welcome Centers, research, and industry relations.
