Founded in 1943, the Recreation Resources Service is the nation\u2019s first state-funded technical assistance program created for park and recreation professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our program\u2019s services are provided through a partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncparks.gov\/more-about-us\/about-parks-recreation\/about-the-division-of-parks-recreation\">North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation<\/a>. The Recreation Resources Service was established to provide assistance to the public and private sectors of North Carolina\u2019s leisure service industry, including municipal and county park and recreation departments, nonprofit agencies, private recreation agencies, recreation consumer groups, and recreation and park board and commission members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, the Recreation Resources Service offers four types of services:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Technical assistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Field administration for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncparks.gov\/about-us\/grants\/land-and-water-conservation-fund\">Land and Water Conservation Fund<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncparks.gov\/about-us\/grants\/parks-and-recreation-trust-fund\">the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applied research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continuing education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistance for the Recreation Resources Service is offered throughout the state of North Carolina by <a href=\"https:\/\/rrs.cnr.ncsu.edu\/offices-staff\/\">three field offices<\/a>, as well as the main office located at 3024 Biltmore Hall on the NC State campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information about the Recreation Resources Service, contact Director <a href=\"https:\/\/cnr.ncsu.edu\/directory\/charlynne-t-smith\/\">Charlynne Smith<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oglebay Schools<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We sponsor the largest recreation technical assistance and professional service program in the United States. In the past 50 years, more than 15,000 people have been certified through its national training programs, located at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, West Virginia. In addition to the National Training Center at Oglebay Park, we partner with several national associations to sponsor our programs.
