Ernie AlexanderBy Taylor Krakuszeski

Ernie Alexander graduated from NC State in 1967 with a degree in PSE and in 1972 received his degree in Chemical Engineering.  Ernie is currently retired but enjoyed quite a lengthy career in the industry.  We recently reached out to Ernie to find out about his experience here at NC State and what advise he has for current students.

Experience at NC State

Internship/co-op experiences: International Paper Company, Summer 1963 – 1967

Favorite Class: Doc Cook’s Unit Processes in Paper Science and Professor Hitching’s Pulp and Paper Manufacturing

Best memory and favorite part of NC State: Spring break and the trip to Mills in NC, SC and GA

What is the most important thing PSE taught you: Problem solving

Favorite part of retirement: Every day is a holiday.  I enjoy spending more time traveling and reading.

What is your greatest accomplishment in your career: Mentoring younger engineers.

Advice for Current Students

Be a life long learner, respect all co-workers and remember peoples names.
