Seventh Annual Day of Giving Raises Nearly $800K for College of Natural Resources

On March 26, NC State’s seventh annual Day of Giving fundraiser brought together Wolfpack alumni, faculty, staff and others to support the College of Natural Resources.

The college received 976 gifts for a preliminary total of $796,485 thanks to the generosity of donors. The funds will support student scholarships, faculty research, and much more.

“The energy on Day of Giving is always inspiring and uplifting. It’s an exciting day, and you can feel it in the air and in the way we all come together to make this day successful,” said Myron Floyd, dean of the College of Natural Resources.

Floyd added, “Our students are encouraged by the many donors who believe in them and who give to make their educational experience the best it can be.”

Giving challenges allowed the college to earn bonus funds as Wolfpack supporters met certain donations goals throughout the 24-hour fundraising event.

Donor participation led to the college winning the “Most Gifts From 5-6 a.m. Challenge,” resulting in an additional $1,000.

The college also met all three of its donor challenges, securing a total of $17,000 for scholarships, professional development and more.

When 50 donors made gifts to the Graduate Student Support Fund, the Natural Resources Foundation donated $12,000 to the fund.

The Graduate Student Support Fund helps cover tuition, research, conferences and travel, ensuring the college attracts top graduate students.

Zach Myers ’97 also donated a matching $2,500 to the Brian Cardini Memorial Scholarship to support students majoring in sustainable materials and technology.

Additionally, Lynn Davidson ’79 donated $2,500 to the Natural Resources Enhancement Fund when it reached 150 gifts.

Other highlights from the day include:

  • Harry Sideris ’94 and his wife, Catinna, increased their gift to the Sideris Family Scholarship for undergraduate students pursuing a dual major in chemical engineering and paper science and engineering.
  • Ron Terry ’76 and his wife, Dale, increased their gift to the Terry Student Assistance and Enrichment Fund to support hands-on learning opportunities for College of Natural Resources students.
  • Adam Elhammoumi ’15 and Jesseeca Nguyen ’15 established the Elhammoumi Nguyen Cultural Immersion Scholarship to support study abroad experiences for undergraduate students majoring in paper science and engineering.
