This past academic year was once again packed with impressive work by our faculty and staff at the Center for Geospatial Analytics. Below is a sampling of the achievements of the Center’s faculty fellows, director and associate directors, research associates and scholars, staff and postdoctoral scholars since last July. Congratulations to all for your accomplishments!
Awards and Honors
Faculty Fellow Marcelo Ardón was named a University Faculty Scholar. He also won an Outstanding Teaching Award from NC State.
Faculty Fellow Caren Cooper was promoted to professor.
Faculty Fellow Bethany Cutts won an Outstanding Extension and Engagement Award from NC State and named to the Academy of Outstanding Faculty in Extension and Engagement.
Faculty Fellow Aaron Hipp was promoted to professor.
Faculty Fellow Anders Huseth was named a University Faculty Scholar.
An audio documentary co-created by Faculty Fellow Mirela Tulbure was honored with a science communication award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the International Journalists’ Programmes. Tulbure also led the team that won the Center’s Collaboration & Innovation Award.
Executive Assistant Lois Utt won the Center’s Advocate Award.
Research by Research Scholar Chris Jones, Science Communicator Megan Skrip, Postdoctoral Scholar Ben Seliger, Software Engineers Vaclav Petras and Anna Petrasova, and Director Ross Meentemeyer was covered by USA Today. Jones was further quoted in spotted lanternfly coverage by WRAL, NBC Lx, MSN, KRON, Patch and Food & Wine.
Research co-authored by Postdoctoral Scholar Jing-Huei Huang, Faculty Fellow Laura Tateosian and Associate Director of Social and Behavioral Science Applications Aaron Hipp was covered by Phys.org.
