Postdoc Francesco Tonini Wins 2014 Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation In The School of Forest Resources and Conservation At The University of Florida

Just announced, Center postdoctoral scholar Francesco Tonini‘s doctoral dissertation entitled, “Modeling the Spread and Geographic Distribution of Invasive Termites in Florida,” has been selected as the 2014 Outstanding Dissertation in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation at the University of Florida. Francesco received his Ph.D. in Geomatics from UF where he developed both agent- and cell-based models to simulate the spatio-temporal spread of invasive termites in Florida and applied a number of presence-only statistical models to predict the potential geographic distributions of two major invasive termite species. Francesco joined the Center for Geospatial Analytics in June 2014. Here he is investigating and modeling dynamic interactions between forest disease spread (sudden oak death), wildfire, and land management.  Congratulations Francesco!
