Ashwin Shashidharan Wins Travel Award To Participate In CyberGIS’16 Conference

Center PhD Student Ashwin Shashidharan (Dept. of Computer Sciences) won an $800 travel award to attend the The Third International Conference on CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science in Urbana, Illinois, on July 26-28.

These awards “promote communication and collaboration while enabling graduate students to gain broad perspectives that are essential to resolving many geospatial scientific challenges…” They also greatly benefit CyberGIS “education, training, and workforce development that have been identified as a major challenge for achieving the NSF Cyberinfrastructure Framework for 21st Century Science and Engineering.”

Ashwin will present his research on “pFUTURES: A Parallel FUTure Urban-Region Environment Simulation Framework for Urban Growth Models.”
