Ph.D. Students Shine at CNR Graduate Research Symposium

Geospatial Analytics Ph.D. students took part in in the College of Natural Resources’s annual Graduate Research Symposium on March 20, 2025, participating in both the poster and Three-Minute Thesis competitions. The Symposium showcases the broad array of research of both masters and doctoral students in the College, judged by experts in the field. Poster categories included Human and Environment Interactions, Management and Policies, Natural Systems and Sustainability and the Sustainable Bioeconomy.

Geospatial Analytics student Andrew Shannon won Second Place in the Three-Minute Thesis contest, with a dynamic presentation of his dissertation research, “One Plus One May Not Equal Two: Drought and Fire Display Compensatory Interactions at the Landscape-scale in Pine Forests of the Southwestern United States under Future Climates.” Andrew is advised by Dr. Robert Scheller, a CGA Faculty Fellow and CNR’s Associate Dean for Research.
