The College of Natural Resources is seeking a creative content creator to serve as our social media intern for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Based upon availability, this position will also have the option to work limited hours during Summer 2024.

The intern will be responsible for creating visual assets for the college’s social media channels, with an emphasis on capturing photography and video and creating Instagram reels. The ideal candidate is a highly creative content creator with experience producing short-form vertical video. The candidate must be able to create connections throughout the College of Natural Resources to collect visual assets showcasing our diverse majors and student body. A full list of responsibilities is listed below.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend events and take photos and video for social media posts
  • Take photos and video of everyday life at the college for social media posts
  • Help create and edit short-form vertical videos (primarily Instagram Reels) 
  • Participate in creative meetings to provide ideas for the college’s social media channels 
  • Assist with creating copy for social media posts on an as-needed basis
  • Ensure brand message is consistent
  • Augment content created by the College of Natural Resources marketing team

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Current undergraduate student at NC State University, preferably with some experience in marketing and communications and an interest in forestry, wildlife conservation, climate science, sustainability, outdoor recreation and related fields
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet short-term and long-term assignment deadlines
  • Familiarity with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Threads
  • Experience using a smartphone for photography is required
  • Must use your own phone and equipment for photography and videography
  • Experience capturing and editing video 
  • Access to Adobe Premiere Pro is a plus
  • Experience with Canva, Hootsuite and Photoshop isn’t required but welcomed
  • Writing experience for social media is preferred

Compensation:

$13/hour

Working Conditions:

The student should be available for at least one full year and able to work at least 8-12 hours per week. Hours are flexible to accommodate educational commitments.
