Undergrad Position Available in Science Visualization and Illustration

Are you a talented graphic designer with a passion for scientific illustration? The Landscape Dynamics research group at the Center for Geospatial Analytics is seeking a creative and driven NC State University undergraduate student to contribute to our groundbreaking work on urban growth modeling. This is your chance to combine your skills in visualization, graphic design/communication and storytelling with your scientific curiosity.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our team in reviewing scientific models and literature
- Conduct research on methods and best practices in scientific illustration
- Participate in ideation sessions, both virtual and in person
- Develop an portfolio of scientific diagrams and illustrations
This position offers flexible hours, requiring an average availability of 8–10 hours per week. We ask that interested students commit for a minimum of one semester. You will start working on the first day of fall classes and continue until the end of the semester.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:
- Creative flair and a demonstrated talent in graphic design
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts through visuals
- Basic knowledge of video production, including video abstracts
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is highly preferred
