The School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to complete research on several harvesting related projects. This is a 12-month, limited term non-tenure track position and is funded from external sources for up to two years. Continued employment is contingent on availability of funding and satisfactory performance. Success of this project will result in the development of production estimations for biomass operations and the development of small scale harvesting equipment. This position will focus on evaluating harvesting operations in Alabama, Georgia and Florida and collecting data from several logging operations in this region.
Minimum Qualifications
The minimum qualification is a PhD from an accredited institution in forestry, forest engineering or a related ï¬eld at the time employment begins. Applicants will be evaluated on their knowledge, experience and abilities in collecting production data from on-going operations, determining productivity equations for harvesting operations, and estimating costs for an operation. The successful applicant will also demonstrate commitment to timely completion of deliverables, commitment to publication of results in peer-reviewed outlets, and strong potential to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders on a highly visible research topic. Strong written and interpersonal skills are also required.
The candidate selected for the position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of the appointment; excellent communication skills required.
Desired Qualifications
A strong publication record, structured decision-making experience, and experience with statistical analysis are desired. Familiarity with equipment design and systems is also desirable.
