Seeking an individual to help supervise the repair and maintenance of our Water Distribution and Sewer Collection teams as a Crew Supervisor. This position is a member of the OWASA leadership team and should have demonstrated skills with coaching, training, motivating, and mentoring individuals for individual and team success.   


 


Key responsibilities include: 




  • Scheduling, planning, and monitoring the daily work activities of assigned crew. Six Crew Supervisors cover the following areas:  Sewer Maintenance and Easements, Valve Maintenance, Water Line Maintenance, Customer Service of Meters/Hydrants, Sewer Preventative Maintenance, and Construction.   

  • Monitoring performance, set goals and objectives for approximately 3 to 6 team members. 

  • Work directly with the teams to ensure safe and efficient work practices are always followed. 

  • Completing work orders; use a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to locate, repair, maintain and inspect valves, hydrants, meters, manholes, water, and sewer lines.   

  • Mow and maintaining easements and creek crossings, conduct point repairs and push patches, install, maintain, and repair water and sewer lines, and administer the grease and cross connection program.   

  • Operating heavy equipment. 


Candidates should have skills obtained with six-months to one year of advanced study or training past high school with three to five years of water and sewer system experience.   Valid North Carolina driver’s license required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).  Must have the ability to become certified in Water Distribution Grade A and/or Collection System Grade III. Position frequently exerts 50-100 pounds and occasionally exerting over 100 pounds. Position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and responding to after-hour situations, as necessary. Experience using Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of Cityworks work order management system is preferred.
