Hiring Hourly Rate:  $17.99
Work Day/Hours:  Varies Monday-Sunday approximately 20-25 hours per week


The focus of this position will be Canine Recreation programs, Dog Parks, and the Fun Caravan program (a rotating outdoor social program intended to build community relationships.) This position will be responsible for planning and implementing these programs, partnering with local organizations, and community outreach. Responsibility will also include routinely monitoring Dog Parks for maintenance, safety, and public compliance with rules. Customer service duties will include responding to customer questions and complaints, processing refund requests, and assisting with program registrations.




Duties/Responsibilities 


Routinely monitors and inspects dog parks for maintenance, safety, security, and public compliance with rules and regulations, troubleshooting as needed.
Provides customer service by responding to resident questions, concerns, and complaints pertaining to the dog parks and canine recreation programs.
Organizes mobile and canine recreation programs and events by securing instructors, performers, and event exhibitors, and scheduling classes.
Manages programs by submitting course information for entry into Active.Net recreation software system, tracking program attendance, collecting evaluations, and facilitating and/or supervising the facilitation of the program.
Completes registrations, collects fees and other financial transactions as assigned.
Assists at front desk when requested.
Registers canines to use the dog parks, ensuring that each canine meets the requirements established by the city, and assigns tags per registration procedures.
Maintains program materials and supplies inventory.
Determines the type of volunteer assignments needed and training needed for the positions.
Assists with marketing and advertising of events by creating marketing materials including blogs, flyers, and articles.
Distributes flyers and brochures, determines where to take marketing pieces to advertise events and programs.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training programs, orientations, and evaluation sessions.

Important update on our COVID-19 process for new hires and employees: 
Employees who have not confirmed that they are fully vaccinated on their first day of employment will be subject to mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing. Refusal to comply with the mandatory weekly testing will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Also, employees who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will pay a $100 surcharge each month for their health insurance benefit, during the subsequent benefits year, if they remain unvaccinated through 12/31/2022.  

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications & Experience 

High School diploma (GED, HiSet,)
Two (2) years of experience in canine recreation or a related field.
A valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.


Additional Preferred Skills 

Comfortable working around dogs.
Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Experience coordinating a program or event.
