This 100% academic tenure-track faculty position will have primary responsibility for the Department of Applied Ecology’s academic program, including teaching and administration. Specifically, the new faculty member will be expected to teach four (4) courses per year in the area of ecology at the undergraduate level. At least one course will be introductory in nature; the remaining will likely be upper-level courses that are directly connected to the proposed Applied Ecology major. Class sizes will typically be in the range of 15 – 50 students. The new faculty member will have responsibility for developing core course materials (lectures, exams, teaching materials, etc.), teaching lecture and/or laboratory sections, holding regularly scheduled office hours each week, administering and grading exams, supervising teaching assistants and managing all other aspects of producing and delivering departmental courses.

The new faculty member will also have responsibility for administering the Applied Ecology minor, which may consist of 25 – 50 students. Candidates interested in innovative teaching and the scholarship of teaching are particularly encouraged to apply. The Department of Applied Ecology is in the early stages of developing a major, and the new faculty member will have leadership opportunities and administrative responsibilities associated with that process. Finally, the new faculty member will serve as the departmental Director of Undergraduate Programs and will assume associated responsibilities including course scheduling, advertising and marketing, academic planning and processing of courses developed by departmental faculty, and leadership of the departmental academic program committee.
