I am looking for one seasonal technician to assist with my Master’s project studying bat activity, distribution, and foraging habitat associations throughout South Carolina. This project is part of the multinational NABat program and is in collaboration with various federal and state agencies (such as US Forest Service and SC Department of Natural Resources) and with private landowners. The NABat monitoring program works to establish and promote worldwide bat conservation efforts and monitoring of bats at the local and regional scales.
The technician will conduct mobile and stationary acoustic surveys at night using SD2 Anabat detectors. Daytime work consists of setting up and/or checking the stationary detectors and consists of vegetation surveys. Some research will occur on private land, so the technician may need to interact with landowners. Due to the nature of this project, there will be frequent traveling to different field sites. Housing will be provided at each site. The start date is May 9th and is expected to end around August 1st (about 12 weeks). Start and end dates have some flexibility.
