Description
This position is located in the Wildlife Bureau at the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. The employees in this role are regarded as statewide experts, will be doing fieldwork, and should be familiar with working outdoors doing land management. These positions require knowledge of specialized trades, operation and repair of state facilities, and many types of heavy equipment. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance and facility upkeep is required along with the knowledge of managing wildlife habitat in Wildlife Management Areas.
Qualifications
Seasoned Professional Environmental/Natural Resources position that requires deep technical knowledge of an environmental/natural resources area or thorough knowledge of multiple areas and to interpret on a broad basis the principles, theories and concepts of a scientific specialty and regulatory requirements. Employees in these roles are usually regarded as a statewide expert in their area, known outside the boundaries of state government; influence standards at the agency, state, and national levels; prepare and review technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance; provide input and recommendations in legislation and rules; and provide expert testimony. At this level, employees serve as technical leadership, developing and implementing strategies and procedures for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental and natural resources data and information, designing research and forecasting models, and reviewing technical work of others.
