Overview


RES is hiring an Assistant Project Manager (Ecological Restoration or Heavy/Civil Site Stabilization) to assist with the facilitation of projects, ensuring timely execution through organization of project components and completion within budget. This position will be assigned to solar vegetation projects on utility scale sites in Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois. The person can be based out of our St Louis, MO or Hillsdale, IN offices or be remote travelling 80% of the times to those sites in all settings. 


 


The mission: The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and/or oversight of each project and will report project progress, issues, concerns, to the PM.  It is expected that the APM will be able to attend site meetings and coordinate with the onsite inspectors, visitors, and other parties associated with the project as a part of their daily duties.  Should project issues arise the APM will coordinate with the PM for guidance and issue resolution.


What your day-to-day might look like?


Your work will be split among the following activities:



  • Field Work and Operations:


    • Complete work in the field: This includes oversight and management of all aspects of seeding, vegetation management, and implementation work such as overseeing subcontractors to meet project specifications, GPS survey confirming the completion of internal crews and subcontractors’ work.

    • Assist field operations with vegetation restoration tasks: Seeding, mowing, burning, brushing, and herbicide applications.



Crew and Contractor Oversight:




    • Overseeing crews: Managing crews to ensure project specifications are met.

    • Overseeing contractors: Communicating with customers, designers, engineers, owners, and general contractors regarding project status, schedules, and other needs.

    • Inspector interactions: Measuring quantities, alerting the project manager to needs for change orders, and interacting with site visitors.



Administrative and Logistical Tasks:




    • Vendor setup, POs, and AP approvals: Setting up vendors and managing purchase orders and accounts payable approvals.

    • Materials ordering and staging: Coordinating materials ordering and staging as per bid or in coordination with the site superintendent.

    • Documentation of the project paperwork: Maintaining job books, construction logs, and other necessary documentation.

    • Timesheet review: Coordinating approvals through construction operations and delivering Truck & Equipment weekly reports with construction operations.

    • Project submittals: Managing and submitting project documentation as required.

Qualifications




  • We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:


     



    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in applied sciences, administration, construction management, or similar field.

    • 2+ years of progressive experience in an applied-sciences, engineering, or construction field.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.  ARCGIS Field Maps experience is desired. 

    • Experience with ecological restoration projects, Heavy/Civil site stabilization, or large scale Right of Way stabilization, or large and complex landscaping installations.

    • Ability to identify typical agricultural nuisance and invasive weed species as well as various grass and forb species for vegetation establishment and adaptive management recommendations on our projects.
