CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE – CHENIERE 2021 SUMMER INTERNSHIP



The Summer Internship Program
During our 12-week paid summer internship program, our interns become valuable members of our team, encouraged to contribute to challenging, substantive projects. Through the experience, interns acquire marketable skills to serve them throughout their careers, such as planning projects, hosting meetings, preparing and delivering presentations, and implementing real solutions into operations. In addition to their day-to-day responsibilities, interns engage with senior leadership during monthly “lunch and learns”, help support organizational goals as a participant in community service events, and network with peers at intern events. Ultimately, the program provides interns invaluable connections and experiences to benefit them as they embark on their careers.

Corporate Environmental Compliance Responsibilities
Compliance & Regulatory Affairs – Environmental
The Environmental team at Cheniere is a part of the Environmental/Regulatory Affairs group. The Environmental Team has two primary functions:
First, for development projects, to work closely with our Engineering and Construction (E&C) Group to ensure that facilities are located, designed and constructed with minimal impact to the environment and to work with regulatory agencies to acquire the necessary Federal, state, and local permits and authorizations.
Second, the Environmental Team supports Production, Operation and the Maintenance (O&M) Team to ensure that all company assets maintain compliance with permits and other regulatory requirements. The environmental function requires personnel (scientists, engineers and other professionals) with a broad spectrum of technical discipline and experience. These specialties include Water Quality, Biology/Threatened & Endangered Species, Air Quality, Waste Management, Geology, Hydrogeology, Toxicology and Information Technology.

Environmental Compliance
The primary duties would be related to either air quality projects or water/waste compliance. The air quality projects include ongoing activities to obtain PSD (criteria pollutant and GHG) permits and development of compliance plans. The water/waste compliance duties include waste management and waste minimization activities and permitted water discharge monitoring and compliance. The role(s) will support both the Sabine Pass Liquefaction and Corpus Christi Liquefaction Facilities. Interns will gain valuable experience and insight in the LNG field, from both a project development, and operations perspective.


Below are additional responsibilities and duties to be performed:
Review of air quality permits and permit applications, modeling reports, emission inventories, emissions calculations and administrative tasks related to these activities
Review and summarize state and Federal environmental regulations and perform research on existing facility permits and air pollution control technology and prepare summary reports of findings

Regulatory Affairs
The Compliance & Regulatory Affairs - Environmental department provides environmental and regulatory support for new project development. They guide project teams on environmental permitting requirements and regulatory strategies for obtaining project approvals necessary to construct and operate the company’s assets. Additionally, they lead the coordination and submittal of permit applications to federal, state, and local agencies. Below are some responsibilities and duties to be performed:
Assist with defining regulatory processes and timelines for new projects
Prepare applications for environmental permits and authorizations from federal, state, and local agencies
Assist construction staff with maintaining compliance with permit conditions.
Develop budget estimates and schedules for new projects
Prepare environmental impact analyses for new projects

Qualifications
Applicants must be enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university and a course of study, relevant to the department/function of interest.
Major: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (specifically Agricultural/Biological /Environmental Engineering), Environmental Science or other related majors preferred.
Undergraduate Junior or Senior preferred.
Preference given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Interns must be eligible to work in the United States.
Must have strong oral and written communications skills, be able to work effectively and build relationships with others.
Must have good organization and planning skills, demonstrate effective project coordination, facilitation, and implementation based on past work or school experiences.
Must possess deductive reasoning skills, be able to analyze and synthesize information for problem solving.
Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email software, internet searching, and other programs.
