Endowments

Establishing an endowment is a way to support generations of faculty and students and leave a lasting impact on the college. Explore the ways you can invest in our future.

Student Support

Your financial support helps today’s students make the most of their college experience and go on to become tomorrow’s leaders in natural resources fields.

Scholarships

Scholarships allow all students, no matter their economic status, to explore and learn in ways they might not be able to otherwise. The education we provide helps students develop the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing and challenging work force. Scholarships can often be the difference between top-students attending NC State, going elsewhere or not going to college at all.

Endowed Full-Tuition Scholarship
Your gift of $250,000 or more provides full tuition support for a student in a program of your choice as well as a stipend for experiential learning, service learning or study abroad.

Endowed Merit Award Scholarship
Your gift of $50,000 or more provides a partial merit-based scholarship for an incoming freshman in a program of your choice in recognition of his or her exceptional academic ability, talent and potential.

Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship
A gift of $50,000 or more provides a partial merit- or need-based scholarship for a student in an undergraduate program of your choice.

Graduate Fellowships

Graduate fellowships are critical to attracting top students to our college. These students not only play a critical role in our research enterprise, working side-by-side with faculty, but they also bring fresh ideas and inquisitive minds. They are the next generation of leaders in both academia and industry.

Endowed Graduate Fellowship
A gift of $500,000 or more supports a student in the donor’s choice of graduate program.

Endowed Graduate Fellowship Fund
A gift of $150,000 or more provides partial support for students in a graduate program of the donor’s choice. These funds may be used to address tuition as well as research and dissertation expenses, travel to professional conferences and other activities essential to a quality graduate education.

Experiential Learning

Hands-on experiences — including internships, co-ops, summer programs, study abroad and undergraduate research — are key to the education of all students in our college. 100% of our students graduate having completed at least one experiential opportunity outside of the classroom. In many cases these experiences have costs associated with them or require students to forego paid work.

Endowed Experiential Learning Funds
A gift of $50,000 or more can create a named endowment to support specific experiences, such as Forestry and Environmental Resources Summer Camp, or a variety of experiences, such as study abroad, professional conferences and more.

Faculty Support

Professorships are key in helping us attract and retain top faculty in an increasingly competitive market. These funds offer vital support for their world-changing research and help them offer research opportunities for the brightest graduate students.

Endowed Deanship
A gift of $3 million or more will make the college’s deanship one of the most sought-after positions of its kind in the country.

Endowed Chair
A gift of $2.5 million or more will provide salary and operational support enhancements to attract and retain eminent faculty. The North Carolina General Assembly offers a generous gift-matching program for faculty chair donors.

Endowed Department Head
A gift of $2 million or more will strengthen our leadership by endowing a department head position within the college.

Endowed Distinguished Professorship
A gift of $1 million or more will provide salary supplements and other resources to attract and retain highly respected scientists. The General Assembly gift matching program is also available for distinguished professorship donors.

Endowed Faculty Award
A gift of $100,000 or more will provide supplemental support to faculty for their teaching or research responsibilities.

Natural Resources Catalyst Fund
The Natural Resources Catalyst Fund supports innovative faculty by providing seed money to pursue interdisciplinary research and kick start new ideas. Gifts to this fund help incentivize new ventures and give faculty the opportunity to explore ideas without being bound by the constraints of grants or industry funding.
