First-Year Student Registration Information

We are excited that you have chosen NC State’s College of Natural Resources to be your home. This page will help guide you through the registration process for your fall semester courses. Course registration will begin in early June, with enrollment dates spanning from June 4-7. We encourage you to register as soon as possible to have the best selection of courses. If you miss your enrollment date, you will not have access again until June 10 when open enrollment is available for all incoming students.

Directions

  1. You will receive an email in mid-May with details about how to complete the self-registration process through the Moodle online learning management system.
  2. Log in to WolfWare with your unity credentials to access Moodle. The system will be provide you with an overview your major requirements and a list of online modules (videos, quizzes, etc.) that must be completed before beginning the self-registration process.
  3. To begin the self-registration process, you must access the “projects” tab to find the following spaces based on your major:
    • FER: ENVFY Self-Registration for Fall 2024
    • PRTM: PRTM Self-Registration Advising Information Fall 2024
    • Sustainable Materials and Technology: SMT Self-Registration for Fall 2024
    • Paper Science and Engineering: Paper Science and Engineering – First Year Advising

Note: You must complete the self-registration process before scheduling a meeting with your academic advisor. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jordan McMican at Jordan_McMican@ncsu.edu

Schedule Completion

While we encourage you to begin the self-registration process early, your fall schedule may not be complete until late July or early August due to outstanding AP, IB, and transfer credits that may adjust your course load. This is to be expected. Please contact your advisor if you have any questions or concerns.

Self-Enrollment in MyPack Portal

Once you have completed your department’s advising requirements and online advising modules, your hold will be lifted and you can enroll on your designated date. Again, you will not be able to register for classes until June 10 if you miss your assigned enrollment date between June 4-7.

You will likely see some courses already on your course schedule when you go to enroll. Please do not remove these courses without communicating with your department. These courses were added to your schedule because they are required for your intended major. You can find contact information for your department listed below.

Directions

  1. Read instructions on using the student information system via MyPack Portal and view the “Enrolling into a Course” video.
  2. Log in to MyPack Portal with your unity credentials and select the “Planning and Enrollment” tile.
  3. Select “Enrollment Wizard” from the list on the left-hand side of the page and find your intended major for instructions on selecting appropriate courses.
  4. Begin adding classes to your cart in MyPack Portal. Recommended classes to register for have been placed as “Planner Courses” on your “Add to Cart” tab. You can search for individual sections of these classes by selecting “Search Filter Options.” You can add course selections into your shopping cart now, but you cannot officially enroll in them until your “Term Advisement Hold” has been removed in early June.
  5. Make note of any warnings that indicate you may not be able to add a certain course. You can hover over the symbol with your cursor to view details. Example:
    req-not-met
    reserved-seats
  6. On your date of enrollment, you can enroll in the courses you’ve placed in your cart. If you are unable to enroll in certain courses, you will likely see an error message explaining why you may need to select a different course or a different section. You can find more information about error messages on this FAQ sheet. Sometimes, you’ll have the option to waitlist a course. Please be sure to identify other courses you might register for instead in case you do not get into the course you’re on the waitlist for.

Semester-by-Semester Displays by Major

You can use this page to view a list of required courses for your major, course descriptions, and a suggested eight-semester sequence of requirements. Please keep in mind that while you must complete all of the listed requirements, your schedule will look different each semester than what is listed.
