Makiko Shukunobe
Bio
Makiko is a research assistant in the Center for Geospatial Analytics Geovisualization Laboratory. She develops immersion virtual environments using virtual reality software, SENSICS zSight and Oculus Rift head-mounted devices. Her long term research goals involve 1) complex applied GIS analysis and 2D/3D visualizations that incorporate Augmented Reality (AR) utilizing location-based, marker-based and markerless data, 2) LiDAR data analysis using the GRASS GIS open source application, and 3) developing Web and mobile GIS applications, geospatial databases, and Python scripting language-based GIS applications. Makiko joined the Center as a research assistant in 2012 after completing the Masters of Geospatial Information Science and Technology (MGIST) program at NCSU.
