Student Caddies at PR Open

First year student Miguel Alvarez spent his spring break serving as a caddie in the Puerto Rico Open. The PR Open is a PGA Tour event where golfers from all over the world compete to win a large cash prize, the crystal trophy and continue to accumulate FedEx Cup points. Alvarez met professional tour players and caddies and shook hands with golfing sensation Ryo Ishikawa! Alvarez comments "To caddy at a PGA Tour event was an awesome opportunity." Now he looks forward to his first internship at Medinah Country Club, home of the 2012 Ryder Cup.

Carolinas Cup Tournament

For the first time in history a PGA/GM school holds the Jones Cup and Carolinas Cup trophies within the same calendar year. Ten elite NC State PGA/GM students trekked 175 miles to Myrtle Beach, S.C., with hopes of ousting the Carolinas Cup competition on the newly renovated Hackler Course.

Seniors Alex Kowalski and Josh Rackley shot a pair of 76s on Sunday and led the Wolfpack to a one-point win against Coastal Carolina. The final score was 1269-1270. Campbell University took third (1290) and Clemson, fourth, (1291).

PGA Jones Cup

NC State's PGA Golf Management program snatches their first ever Jones Cup Championship in Port St. Lucie, FL. The national tournament featuring teams from all 20 PGA Golf Management Universities across the US is sponsored by the PGA of America and Golf Pride.The Pack rallied back from four shots down at the end of the first round on Tuesday to capture the 10th annual PGA Jones Cup Championship. Senior Bryce Aronson led the way and finished shared top medalist honors after shoorting rounds of 76 and 71.

The curriculum provides students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills necessary for success in the golf industry via extensive classroom studies and internship experience. Students in our PGA accredited PGA Golf Management Program (and everyone else in the NC State Community) are excited about the new Arnold Palmer Signature 18-hole, 6,915-yard, par 71 public golf course, with practice range and green golf facility. Located on 1,000 acres on NC State's Centennial Campus close to Downtown Raleigh, the Lonnie Poole Golf Course provides a top-notch, on-site, hands-on learning opportunity for our PGM students.

PGM Students Finish Big in Las Vegas Tournament

NC State PGA Golf Management students, Josh Rackley and Alex Kowalski, finished in second place at the 2010 National Collegiate Golf Championship (NCGC) in Las Vegas November 12-14. Rackley and Kowalski were one of two teams posting a score below par (-1, 71). The Wolfpack PGM students captured the National Skills Challenge overall championship with Rackley additionally picking up honors as the overall Skills Challenge Champion for all division competitors.
