The Graduate School NC State Graduate Handbook provides an overview of
Graduate School functions and resources, as well as the rules, regulations, and
procedures administered by the Graduate School. This PRTM student resources
page supplements the Graduate School Handbook and includes information specific to the PRTM Department. It is the responsibility of all graduate students to know and understand the degree requirements as explained in both the PRTM
Department and Graduate School Handbooks. Students are responsible for the
fulfillment of those requirements. Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management graduate students are admitted to the university through NC State’s Graduate School. For departmental admission process please click here.

  • This “Guidelines Document” is intended to support doctoral and masters students and their advisors in the PRTM Department at NC State University as they plan their path to graduation and  these guidelines are intended to offer reasonable benchmarks for measuring students’ progress toward degree completion.

  • PRT 884: This course aims to provide an alternative supervised substantive professional development experience that is comparable to the Doctoral Supervised Teaching (PRT 885) in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (PRTM) PhD Curriculum. PhD students pursuing a non-academic career are expected to take this Advanced Directed Study (PRT 884) course while PhD students pursuing an academic career path should take PRT 885. The form is to be completed collaboratively by the Instructor (Advisor) and the Advisee.
