USDA Logo

The McIntire-Stennis program, a unique federal-state partnership, cultivates and delivers forestry and natural resource innovations for a better future. By advancing research and education that increases the understanding of emerging challenges and fosters the development of relevant solutions, the McIntire-Stennis program has ensured healthy resilient forests and communities and an exceptional natural resources workforce since 1962. It is funded by the McIntire-Stennis Capacity Grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The College of Natural Resources hosts an annual internal competition for McIntire-Stennis funds, resulting in a new group of multi-year projects each year. The college has awarded funds to more than a dozen projects since 2020.

$1.1 million in funding

is allocated from the McIntire-Stennis program to the College of Natural Resources each year.
