Registration Advising Tools
- Navigate: Many staff and faculty have the ability to take notes from their advising appointment. You can also make referrals to other campus resources. Notes in the system can be seen by other offices that are supporting the same student.
- Enrollment Calendar: This calendar states the dates and enrollment windows for the upcoming semesters.
- Degree Planning Tools: If you need assistance in reviewing a major’s requirements or course sequencing of a particular academic major, then use these tools as a resource.
Releasing Advising Holds
- Releasing Holds: When your advisee has completed all necessary steps to have their Term Advisement hold released, you can release that hold in MyPack Portal.
- Instructions: MyPack Portal > Student Information System > Advising Tile > ‘Advisor Center’ menu item > ‘My Advisees’ tab > Release Hold
Information for Students Changing Majors Out of CNR
- AAPS Change of Major Drop-in Advising:
- Location: Second floor of Holmes Hall
- Monday and Tuesday: 11 am to 1 pm
- Wednesday: 2 p.m to 4 pm
- Thursday and Friday: 11 am to 1 pm
- Inter-College Transfer Program: For students who plan to transfer in or out of CNR, please refer them to the Inter-College Transfer Program, which will assign them to advisors who will help them through the transition.

Student Well-Being
- Absence Verification: If a student has a university-approved absence, they can contact absence verification. An absence verification officer will notify all instructors and the academic advisor with instruction on how to work with this student.
- NC State CARES: If you are concerned about how a student is doing, or if they start to show different or possibly disruptive behavior, please submit a CARES report to help support this student.
- Student Ombuds: This resource assists NC State students with resolving problems related to their university working, learning or living experiences.
- NC State Counseling Center: The Counseling Center hosts workshops and drop-in groups and provides individual counseling sessions.
- NC State Self-Help Resources via Counseling Center: This website has valuable information for individuals who want self-directed learning about well-being. This is a great resource to share with students.

Appreciating Advisors
- Undergraduate Academic Advising Awards: Professional and faculty advisors can be nominated for different advising awards. If you are interested in nominating someone, contact Jordan McMican to help you with the submission process.
- Thank an Advisor: Students are encouraged to thank their advisors for their efforts during Advisor Appreciation Week in April.
CNR Advising Contacts for Questions
- CNR Coordinators of Undergraduate Advising (Per Program): Jordan McMican serves as the Coordinator of Undergraduate Advising for the College of Natural Resources.
- Coordinator of Academic Initiatives: Carolyn Brooks works to schedule rooms and assists with course schedule changes and degree audit revisions.
- Director of Academic and Student Support Services: Yvonne Lee works alongside the Coordinator of Academic Initiatives in managing the scheduling requests for the college. If you are working with a student who has an issue with their schedule, please email: cnr_scheduling@ncsu.edu. Additionally, Yvonne and the ADAA will sign schedule revision forms for students in the college.
- Associate Dean for Academic Affairs: Melissa Pasquinelli serves on the committee for Associate Deans of Academic Affairs, which covers topics that include academic advising. If you have a student who wants to drop a course after the Add/Drop deadline or a Semester Withdrawal, they will be processed by the ADAA. Please speak with her about the student’s situation.
