Inclusivity at Work: DEI Committee Hosts Coffee Time
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management is committed to amplifying the voices and actions of underrepresented groups within our community and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee is working to identify and create more opportunities for to strengthen connections and facilitate communications. Our goal is to create regular opportunities for faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students to come together to get to know each other, ideally build friendships and learn more about our different and common interests. We hope to see you there.
Wednesday, April 28, 2021 – 10 am to 11 am. Our topic is “Favorite Sports Team.” Tell us who you cheer for and why. No parameters! Join us via zoom.
Aiko Bethea, equity consultant focused on coaching leaders and organizations to remove barriers to inclusion, stresses the importance of building relationships in order to pay attention to diversity, equity and inclusion. PRTM’s DEI committee couldn’t agree more. If we don’t really know each other, how can we really advocate for each other? Our first meeting was on April 9th and the topic was “Favorite Places to Travel.” We heard stories from the five districts of Japan as well as from Clyde, North Carolina.
