Department Awards and Honors 2021-2022
Faculty, staff, students and alumni from NC State’s department of parks, recreation and tourism management garnered significant recognition for their accomplishments over the past year. Here are a few highlights.
Kathryn Stevenson, associate professor of parks, recreation and tourism management, was named a 2021-22 University Faculty Scholar.
Jonathan Casper, associate professor and Sport Management Program coordinator in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, was named an Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor.
Carla Barbieri, associate professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, received a 2022 Outstanding Global Engagement Award from the Office of Global Engagement.
Christopher Boyer, a graduate student in parks, recreation and tourism management, won third place in the social sciences and management category of NC State’s Graduate Research Symposium poster competition.
Erin Seekamp, professor of parks, recreation and tourism management and an extension tourism specialist, was named an Alumni Association Distinguished Graduate Professor. She was also appointed Goodnight Distinguished Professor of Coastal Resilience and Sustainability, and director of the Coastal Resilience and Sustainability Initiative.
Christopher Dunstan, a Ph.D. student in geospatial analytics, received a Witherspoon Graduate Fellowship Award.
Courtney Hotchkiss, a Ph.D. student in parks, recreation and tourism management, was named a 2021-22 Global Change Fellow by the Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center.
Andrew Shannon, a Ph.D. student in geospatial analytics, was named a 2021-22 Global Change Fellow by the Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center.
Kyle Bunds, associate professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, was named a 2022-23 DELTA Faculty Fellow.
