Degree Programs

Students in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of communities all across the globe by promoting active lifestyles and fostering positive connections between people and nature.

Graduates walk away with an understanding of the interplay between science, people and business when it comes to creating and facilitating sustainable experiences. Each of our programs is designed to help you explore your individual interests while gaining an understanding of the social, behavioral, physical and environmental sciences as they pertain to improving the health and well-being of communities. Our students have gone on to enjoy successful careers as event planners, environmental educators, park rangers, program directors, sales representatives, operations managers and more.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management is a close-knit community that outfits students with a real-world, experiential education through hands-on classes, required internship experiences and career advisement. Our faculty and staff care about the success of students and support them from application to graduation, ensuring they leave NC State with a well-rounded education and are more than prepared to excel in their chosen professions.

Internships Lead to Jobs

Employers want to hire college graduates who not only have the required education and training for the job, but relevant experience as well. That’s why our department requires all undergraduate students to participate in internships prior to graduation.
