October Seminar to Focus on Pedestrian Commuting in the Urban Environment
Dan Andersson from the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences in Stockholm will be presenting to our community on Friday, October 7, 2022. This event is free and open to the public.
Andersson’s research deals with urban mobility with special reference to walking and the environment. A member of The Research Unit for Movement, Health and Environment, he is also interested in the correlations between exercise intensity and cognitive functioning.
Our urban environments continue to expand and change, both in terms of size of urban area and number of people commuting on a daily basis. City layouts and infrastructure also change constantly and those changes directly impact transportation, thus expansion of the built environment to meet population demand is a growing area of concern.
Andersson will talk about the benefits of active commuting and the role of different environmental factors, such as greenery, noise and aesthetics.
