New Fire Shelter Prototypes Could Buy Time for Wildfire Firefighters

NC State researchers have found that four new designs for shelters to protect firefighters trapped in wildfires could increase survival time inside the shelter compared with the current industry standard. The research team includes Roger Barker, the Burlington Distinguished Professor of Textile Technology and the director of the Textile Protection and Comfort Center.
