Bio

Jennifer Richmond-Bryant, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of the Practice in North Carolina State University’s Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources and a Faculty Fellow with the Center for Geospatial Analytics. Her research specialization is human exposure to air pollution with particular emphases on air pollution in underserved communities. Prof. Richmond-Bryant is currently leading an exposure assessment of hazardous waste combustion emissions in a rural Louisiana town as part of the Louisiana State University Superfund Research Center on Environmentally Persistent Free Radicals. Additionally, she is collaborating with faculty at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) to develop a program for collaboration among students from both institutions. Prof. Richmond-Bryant teaches Fundamentals of Air Pollution and the Indoor Air Quality Laboratory in the Environmental Technology and Management program and Environmental Law and Regulation and Air Quality Assessment for the Masters of Environmental Assessment program. She is also coordinating the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. She joined NC State in 2019 and previously served as an exposure assessment subject matter expert for the US Environmental Protection Agency National Center for Environmental Assessment and as an Assistant Professor in the City University of New York (CUNY) Urban Public Health program.

The Race and Place seminar series is intended to highlight research that contextualizes race by speaking to environmental justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in the geographical and geospatial sciences.
