Forestry Festival at the Cradle of Forestry in America

NCSU Forestry Club at Forestry Festival at the Cradle of Forestry in America

On October 2, 2021 the 24 NCSU Forestry Club members went to the mountains to compete at the Cradle of Forestry Festival, this year it was held at Haywood Community College, because the actual Cradle of Forestry was heavily damaged by one of the remnant hurricanes that passed through the mountains during the summer. The Cradle of Forestry, Forestry Festival is a day of celebration and education that is fun for students and the whole family! The main event of the festival is the John G. Palmer Intercollegiate Woodsmen’s Meet, showcasing such events as team log rolling, crosscut sawing, axe and knife throwing, pole felling, fire starting, archery and many more timbersport events. There are also technical events such as a Quiz Bowl (purely academic) Dendrology (which NCSU won again this year),  orienteering, wood anatomy and more.
