Our Forest Biomaterials doctoral program encourages candidates to explore advanced challenges faced in a variety of fields today. Our outstanding research facilities, extensive outreach and industry activities, and faculty expertise make NC State an ideal place to pursue your Ph.D. Major areas of activity and research in the Department of Forest Biomaterials are concentrated in the bioenergy, biopolymers, wood and paper fields.

While pursuing a Doctorate of Forest Biomaterials, you will develop your own research to meet your unique interests. A significant part of the doctoral experience is performing original research and defending a thesis.
