  • Paper Science & Engineering and Chemical Engineering

Why did you Choose NC State:

  • I chose to study at NC State because I feel at home there. When I was on campus, several students and faculty stopped and introduced themselves to me. The College of Natural Resources, especially, is full of people and resources that will help me reach my goals. I am excited to be a part of such a friendly and collaborative environment.

What activities did you participate in during high school? What was you favorite and why?

  • In high school, I participated on the varsity tennis and lacrosse teams and was captain of the swim team. I am a Student Ambassador, President of the Interact Service Club, American Ambassador to the Chinese exchange program, and Secretary of the Science National Honor Society. I work as a lifeguard at the YMCA. My favorite service activity during high school was when I organized an Invasive Species Eradication Day at the Lake Norman State Park. Volunteers came to help clean up the park and learn about conservation efforts.

What are you most excited about as you head to college?

  • I am excited to meet new people and participate in clubs and intramurals.

What are you most nervous about as you head to college?

  • The food.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?

  • I have an aquaponics garden.

What are you going to miss from home?

  • I will miss my dog and my friends from high school. I will not miss having to take English classes.
