Bell Tower Lighted Red for Dr. Hasan Jameel
Since its completion in 1937, the Memorial Tower has stood as a symbol of identity for North Carolina State University, a timekeeper for tradition and a perpetual memorial to NC State students who gave their lives in defense of their country. As well as a memorial, the tower is a rallying point for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the university community.
The Belltower is lighted for holidays that honor our veterans, such as Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day, and to celebrate NC State’s proudest occasions and achievements.
Friday, October 8, 2021 was one such occasion for Paper Science and Engineering’s own, Dr. Hasan Jameel. As a recipient of the 2021 UNC Board of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, the bell tower was lit red in Hasan’s honor. Family, friends, colleagues and students gathered at the Aloft hotel across the street from the bell tower to enjoy this momentous occasion.
We enjoyed a night of celebrating the wonderful accomplishments of a passionate, caring friend, professor, colleague and mentor to many.
Congratulations Dr. Jameel and thank you for every ounce of energy and time that you invest in our industry, students and program.
