Why did you choose Paper Science and Engineering (PSE)?

  • I chose PSE for the career opportunities it presented and I stayed for the community I found!

What is your favorite thing about NC State?

  • My peers who I am able to go through school with, as well as the faculty who are beyond compassionate and helpful.

What is your favorite thing about Paper Science and Engineering?

  • My favorite thing about PSE is how supportive everyone is and even though there is competition between your peers, it’s very healthy and makes you want to succeed.

What is your favorite thing about NC State

  • NC state is a beautiful location between the beach and the mountains. I have had many trips to both sides of the state with the friends I have made!

What advice would you offer to an incoming freshman?

  • Get as involved as you can from the start. Take risks and become the best you!

What is your favorite Extra-Curricular Activity?

  • I love to travel. I took this past summer off to backpack through Central America for 3 weeks visiting multiple countries. I also bought a pop-up camper with friends and road-tripped out west in the U.S for 2 months. With school was primarily online for 1.5 years, I took the opportunity to take as many small trips as possible. Dr. Byrd preached early on to learn how balancing school with extra-curricular activities is very important in becoming a dynamic student as well as engineer. NC State allowed me to meet other musicians and honestly just being involved in the NC State/Raleigh music scene has to be my favorite. Having this escape has allowed me to take a break from my, at times, overwhelming course load.

What is the biggest obstacle you has faced thus far?

  • The biggest obstacle I have faced thus far is probably my school work. I have found for myself that the curriculum can be difficult, and rewarding at the same time. I have struggled at certain times, but I keep on pushing and everything has worked out well thus far!

Who has been your favorite professor or staff?

  • Has to be Dr. Jameel, for sure. He makes class so interesting and actually cares about you learning the material. He also teaches it in a way that is very useful and easily applied to the industry. If you get the chance to meet him, you’ll understand.
