Meet Loi Tran!
We are excited to welcome Loi Tran as the new Accounting Technician in the Department of Forest Biomaterials!
Please tell us a little bit about yourself both personally and professionally?
I’ve been with NC State since 2017 until 2022. I left to go work for the Department of Commerce, but I missed being on NC State’s campus, so I found my way back here. I have an undergraduate in Business from Trinity College of Vermont. That’s where I spent most of my teenage and adult life. I was told that there are more dairy cows than humans in town, but I loved it. I have always worked in business operations capacity, finance or HR, and in both private and public sectors. In 2020, I decided to pursue an MBA at UNC-Greensboro to continue learning and developing. Surprisingly, I enjoyed graduate school more than my undergraduate years. If all goes well, I will graduate in 2024.
What do you enjoy most about the College of Natural Resources and/or NC State University?
Everyone I have encountered has been supportive and friendly. I am excited and looking forward to working with everyone. I like that my office is surrounded by classrooms, student lounges, staff and faculties offices. I feel that I can reach out if I have questions or need assistance.
What do you do for fun/hobbies/interests?
These days, any spare time I have, I spend with my mom, dogs, and my garden. I like to take my dogs to the greenway for long runs on the weekends or days off.
What is your favorite TV show/movie/ and/or musical artist?
TV shows – The Big Bang Theory, Bones, The Grimm, and Monk.
Music- Classic Rock, specifically Metallica, ACDC, and Pink Floyd – great for running music. I also like classical music when I read.
Favorite ice cream flavor?
Howling Cow’s Wolf Tracks
What is something people may not know about you?
I like to work with the local shelter and foster dogs (allergic to cats) if the time permits.
