Rick Conner ’25 Awarded COE Faculty Senior Scholarship
Competing against a tough Senior engineering candidate panel, Rick Conner was awarded the 2024 College of Engineering Faculty Senior Scholarship in April. Candidates must be a rising senior with anticipated graduation the following academic year and only students invited by faculty may apply. The selection criteria are: academic excellence, intellectual breadth and depth of character.
Rick was chosen based on the extent and broad nature of his degrees, dual B.S. in Paper Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering plus FOUR interdisciplinary minors consisting of: Materials Science & Engineering, Business Administration, Business Entrepreneurship, and Africana Studies.
He shares with us that his favorite PSE course was PSE360 which provides a great overview of the material and energy flows throughout the entire papermaking process, as well as, a number of useful napkin math formulas that will be beneficial as a mill process engineer. Additionally, he enjoyed MIE305, a law class as part his Business Administration minor, which provided practical information on several legal concepts including torts, contracts and partnerships. Not lacking for resources, he found MIE410 on Entrepreneurial Law to be an applicable on many levels. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Conner!
