PSE New Student Orientation

It’s that time again, our newest cohort has formed–now 45–and attended this year’s orientation to learn everything they can about starting the PSE program next month. Students and parents met with the College of Natural Resources as well as the College of Engineering staff before breaking into student-only groups to hear from faculty and staff. Once the initial questions were answered, they were challenged to their first college project–building a paper table that could hold a P-chem textbook for at least 10 seconds. The tallest structure that met this need, won. Additionally, we had current students, Sami Anthony (5th year senior), Sara Gregory (sophomore) and Noah Crowder (sophomore) “visit” via Zoom to give their take on PSE. Notably, these students lead our Student Advisory Committee for the Pulp and Paper Advisory Board. Thanks to them for their continued leadership and participation! The students rounded out their visit with a group meal at Talley Student Union, the smiles on their faces speaking volumes as to their excitement for the college adventure about to commence.
