TAPPI Fall Picnic 2024

By Sami Anthony ’25

NCSU TAPPI welcomed back the PSE students with the annual picnic on August 20th! Returning students had the opportunity to catch up with their classmates and meet the new first-year engineers. Conversations were flooded with stories of projects and experiences from their summer internships and travels. The group enjoyed some cookout essentials with grilled items and sides while engaged in friendly competition in cornhole and spikeball. When asked what excites her about the upcoming year, TAPPI President, Kaya Kusmierczuk, said she is excited “to see the different classes in PSE interacting and making new friends. Connections are one of the most important things in the industry, and it is great that we can meet them in a more relaxed environment.” The picnic serves as the first TAPPI event of the year, which has quickly picked up with interview prenights, social activities, and general body meetings.

Abby Hickman, a PSE sophomore, is most excited “for the TAPPI Student Summit this year happening in Florida. I look forward to meeting people from other schools,  completing engineering challenges, and learning more about the entire papermaking process.” Congratulations to all of our PSE students for starting another semester off strong!
