What sort of scholarships does the FB Department offer?
Our considerable endowment enables us to award a large number of scholarships to incoming freshmen, transfer students and upperclassmen. Combined with well-paying summer internships and semester co-op jobs, these scholarships help many students finance a large portion of their undergraduate education.
What scholarships are available to Paper Science & Engineering students?
Through the Pulp & Paper Foundation, the paper industry provides significant funding for undergraduate scholarships and general program enhancement. Currently there are over 130 individual endowed scholarships available to PSE students. Approximately 50% of PSE students are recipients of these merit based awards.
We also offer and promote a wide variety of additional scholarships, fellowships and industry wide opportunities to existing students.
Our incoming freshman application can be found through the University’s Pack Assist Scholarship Application. The University wide priority deadline is February 15, however, the pulp and paper foundation will also consider applications submitted by February 23.
What scholarships are available for Sustainable Materials students?
The Sustainable Materials and Technology (SMT) program offers merit-based scholarships to incoming freshmen, new off-campus transfer, on-campus transfer, and continuing students. Every year, scholarships ranging from $500 to $3000 are awarded to approximately 40% of our students.
The dollar amount of scholarships varies according to student classification and academic performance as shown on the table in the scholarship guidelines.
To receive a scholarship, the student must:
- be a full-time student enrolled in the SMT curriculum
- be enrolled in appropriate SMT courses found on the SMT curriculum display sheet
- not already be receiving a full NCSU scholarship that covers all tuition and housing/living expenses
To apply for an SMT scholarship, please fill out this online scholarship application form. Applications from incoming students should be submitted as soon as the applicant is admitted to the program. Applications from continuing students must be submitted by May 1 for consideration for the next academic year.
